Thyristor Exciters ZTM
Thyristor exciters ZTM with a microprocessor control system are designed to supply the field winding of synchronous motors. ZTM exciters provide automatic regulation of the synchronous motor field current in either manual or automatic field current setpoint modes. The ZTM is switched on via an external control signal or automatically as a function of slip during direct motor starting.

Advantages of ZTM Thyristor Exciters
- Automatic and manual regulation of field current.
- Support for multiple control modes depending on process requirements.
- Field current forcing to ensure stable motor operation.
- Continuous monitoring of the field winding condition.
- Self-diagnostics and power circuit checking before startup.
- Improved reliability and energy efficiency of the synchronous drive system.
Functions and Operating Modes
During synchronous motor operation, the ZTM provides the following field current control laws:
- manual field current setpoint and stabilization at the required level;
- automatic regulation of reactive power with subordinate field current control;
- automatic regulation (stabilization) of stator terminal voltage with subordinate field current control;
- automatic regulation of a заданed power factor (cos φ) with subordinate field current control;
- field current forcing during synchronization, voltage dips in the supply network, increased load angle beyond set limits, or via special commands;
- continuous measurement of field winding insulation resistance to ground;
- automatic self-diagnostics and power circuit testing after applying 380 V supply voltage, with a “ready for operation” signal output.
Event Recorder for Thyristor Exciters
The event recorder is designed to capture and store events occurring during electric drive operation in non-volatile memory, synchronized with real time. The collected data can later be analyzed using specialized software on a personal computer.
Using the event recorder allows rapid identification of causes of fault conditions, analysis of operating modes, monitoring of event sequences, and improvement of maintenance efficiency for electric drives.
